ORIGINAL PAINTINGS

Original artwork has multiple layers and a variety of mediums. Restored canvases include oils, gouache, acrylic, chalk, charcoal, pastels, pen and ink and microplastics. The composition and content develops as color and texture finds balance on the canvas. Artist collaboration with Metropolitan Fine Art and Framing ensures that all materials and frames are locally and sustainable sourced to maintain the integrity of the artist process.

The intention is to use microplastic waste in a beautiful way, bringing awareness to local conservation efforts and provide education that inspires future generations.”

The artwork was recreated into an ocean inspired color palette. The restored canvas is gessoed with blue and purple. Gouache and glazing techniques develop the color without sacrificing sustainable focus.

Abstract Wave

Eco-Friendly Fine Art Process. The canvas was built in the Czech Republic in 2002. There is an estimate of 200-300 layers of oil paint and recycled oil patels on this work of art. This canvas is restored from the artist personal collection from untitled exhibition at Palacky University in the Czech Republic. It has been repurposed for different abstract projects because of the unique textures and european oil paints. To complete this 1 cup of microplastics found in Maui County in partnership with Hawaii Wildlife Fund. Maui made frame with sustainably sourced pine.

First 50-60 layers are developed with recycled interior design paint leftover from client’s design projects. Oil paints, oil pastels and microplastics helped complete the textured elements of the art in 2020.The canvas is restored from artist personal collection. This was one of originally four canvases built in 2009 in Minnapolis, MN. The time and materials were donated from friends of the artist who work in design and construction. This was the only peice in the art collection of the orgianal four canvases that Stephanie move to Hawaii.There are four cups of microplastics found in Maui County during a clean-up event with Hawaii Wildlife Fund. If you look closely at the water details, you will see an outline of Maui.

Mircoplastic Seashore

Eco-Friendly Fine Art Process:

The recycled oil paint with palette knife techniques, wash techniques are layered with microplastics. The canvas was a gifted from an estate. It was gessoed and restored to create “Microplastic Shorebreak” The artwork has over two cups of microplastics worked into the oil paint on the painting. These plastics were found in Maui County, collected from an event with Hawaii Wildlife Fund & Love the Sea.

“Pe’ahi

Title: “Pe’ahi

Medium: Mix-Media on Canvas with micro-plastics.

Size: 4’x4’x3”

Maui made aluminum frame.

Eco-Friendly Fine Art Process: The mediums used include Acrylic, Gouache and chalk using water wash techniques to layer colors while preserving paint. The canvas was carfully restored and containes an estimate of five cups of microplastics in the white wash. The marine debri and microplastics were found in Maui County during a clean-up event with Hawaii Wildlife Fund. The white wash is full of microplastics, bringing awareness to remote beach clean-up efforts throughout Hawaii. A portion of the proceeds for “Pe’ahi” will go to Hawaii Wildlife Fund continued efforts to remove Marine Debri.
